Requirements of Ricegrowers Co-operative

Ricegrowers needed to package various types of rice from their existing mill in Deniliquin, NSW. The rice had to be transferred from the mill to a new packaging facility and associated warehouse. The design had to:

• provide a parallel conveying system to feed four separate packing lines
• provide enough rice to ensure the storage bins above the packing lines were always full
• minimise capital costs by being installed in existing galleries and allow the old packing process to continue during construction with minimum disruption
• satisfy the requirement to handle food grade rice.

Aerobelt Solution

Aerobelt Australia Pty. Ltd. supplied nine conveyors, two of which had to fit inside existing galleries above the old bag-handling conveyors. Two parallel 193 metre long conveyors were installed on the roof of the new warehouse which substantially reduced the cost of supporting steel work. Four conveyors were also supplied to distribute the rice to the appropriate bin.
