Aerobelt’s Design Overview
The Aerobelt is an air cushion belt conveyor designed for efficient material handling. It uses a fan-driven air supply to create a thin film of air beneath the belt, lifting it slightly above the trough surface. Air escapes through holes in the trough, allowing the belt to float freely. The belt is propelled by a drive pulley connected to a gearmotor and is tensioned using a tail pulley. With minimal friction, this design reduces wear and energy consumption, making it ideal for various industrial applications. Learn more about how Aerobelt’s work here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical design life of Aerobelt conveyors?
20 years+
Do Aerobelt conveyors require specialised conveyor belts?
Yes, Aerobelt conveyors require specific belt design and construction that is available in all industry standard styles such as PVC and FRAS.
What is the typical delivery lead time for an Aerobelt conveyor?
12-16 weeks.
What is the maximum incline angle for an Aerobelt conveyor?
We have installations running at an incline of 25 degrees. Note this maximum angle is subject to the properties of the conveyed material.
Can Aerobelt conveyors change direction?
Yes, Aerobelt’s can be fully reversible and can be customised to achieve both upward and downward slopes or curves. However, a change in horizontal direction can only be achieved by transitioning between conveyors.
How are Aerobelt conveyors constructed for food grade applications?
For food-grade applications, stainless steel is used for the troughs and inlets instead of galvanized steel. A food-grade PVC belt, belt cleaners, and pulleys are selected, while PVC food-grade rollers and isolated bearings are incorporated.
Do you also supply chutes and support steelwork?
Yes – We frequently supply chutes and support steelwork as part of the scope of supply.
Is it necessary to remove Aerobelt conveyor top covers regularly for inspection and maintenance
No – As Aerobelt conveyors use air to support the product between the drive and tail stations, often the top covers of a conveyor can be left in place for years at a time. Only the head and tail station covers need to be removed periodically to change out the handful of transition rollers near the head and tail pulleys.
Are Aerobelt conveyors fully dust tight?
Yes, the carry side of the conveyor is fully enclosed via sealed top covers and clamps, whilst the return side can be enclosed via sealed bottom converts upon request.
