Requirements of Cooperative Bulk Handling Group

The Cooperative Bulk Handling grain facility in Forrestfield, Perth had a requirement to load export containers. The conveyor had to provide the following features:

  • Fill containers in the shortest time possible with a tonnage rate of 300 tph minimum.
  • The conveyor had to distribute the product at the discharge point to ensure the container would be filled to capacity.
  • The conveyor had to have the ability to be retracted as the container was filled.

Technical Information

  • Conveyors: 3
  • Belt Width: 650 mm
  • Length: 34 m
  • Inclination: 0
  • Capacity: 300/ 400 tph
  • Belt Speed: 6.0/ 7.0 m/s
  • Drive Power: 7.5/ 15 kW
  • Fan Power: 1.1 kW
  • Product Density: 0.75 T/m³

Aerobelt Solution

Aerobelt designed a special low-profile 650mm Aerobelt conveyor that could deliver the tonnage rate and was fitted with a unique discharge chute profile to distribute the product to all corners of the container.

At the same time, a scissor mechanism supplied by BulkWest allowed the container loader to raise and lower to match any container height.

This mechanism would also allow the conveyor to retract out of the container as it was being filled.

Some time later, another two conveyors were supplied to CBH for a new Lupins plant that loaded containers for export. This requirement was for 400 tph capacity, so loader speed was increased marginally.
