Requirements of Rio Tinto
Rio Tinto engaged Aerobelt, due to their extensive history of collaboration, on behalf of Worley Parsons in order to supply several conveyors for their open-cut iron ore mine. The conveyors were required in order to facilitate the transition of iron ore from their main transfer conveyors to their sampling laboratory and then back to their main transfer conveyors. These conveyors would need to be reversible, able to vary belt speed, contain high-impact sections, and incorporate product level sensors in order to meet the required demands.

Aerobelt Solution
Aerobelt successfully engineered and supplied a range of reversible conveyors, with capacities spanning from 10 to 146 tph and lengths from 19 to 197 metres. Each conveyor featured a dust-tight design, complete with meshed bottom guards. Additionally, conveyors designed for sampling purposes were equipped with variable speed controls to facilitate the isolation and redirection of samples to the laboratory, where their quality is assessed. All conveyors operate efficiently and cohesively at a low operational cost, a key factor in Rio Tinto’s decision to again select Aerobelt conveyors for this project.
