Requirements of Globex International
The new bulk handling facility required conveyors to transfer grain delivered by road or rail to storage silos and from there to ships or road vehicles for transport to customers.
The system had to:
- have the ability to blend grain from a number of silos when outloading
- be able to service either the ships, the rail terminal, or road vehicles
- be able to adapt to the possible future use of the conveyors for the handling of other products
- have low levels of airborne dust
- have low noise levels because of the site’s proximity to the city
- have negligible maintenance requirements.

Aerobelt Solution
Aerobelt conveyors were selected as they satisfied all of these requirements. Total enclosure ensured that dust escaping into the atmosphere would be negligible, and the absence of support rollers ensured that noise levels would be low. Loading points along the under-silo conveyors allowed blending to be carried out. A reversible conveyor transfers grain either to the ship loader or the truck outloading station.
